Julius Fischer is an author, musician, and cabaret artist from Leipzig.

Since 2004, Julius has been a frequent and popular participant in numerous poetry slams in the German speaking area. With his individual style, which is provocative and brash, but always reflective and never dull, Julius loves to reveal the absurdity of our everyday middle-class lives. A collection of his best slam texts was published as “Ich will wie meine Katze riechen” (“I want to smell like my cat“) in 2011. In 2013, the story-book ”Die schönsten Wanderwege der Wanderhure” (“The most beautiful trails of the hiking whore”) followed.

Julius has won many poetry slams. Together with André Hermann he slammed in the team Total Destruction, which won the German National Poetry Slam twice. Julius is also a member of the reading stages Lesedüne in Berlin, Schkeuditzer Kreuz in Leipzig, and Sax Royal in Dresden.

In 2015, he received the Lessing Award for Young Talents of the city of Kamenz. Together with Christian Meyer he makes music as The Fuck Hornisschen Orchestra and moderates the show “Comedy mit Karsten” on MDR. Since 2016, Julius is frequently seen next to Olaf Schubert in the TV show “Olaf macht Mut” on ARD.

Julius was conceived in Leipzig, born in Gera, raised in Dresden, and, for his study of history and German philology, returned to Leipzig, a town from which he no longer wants to leave.
