Conference on August 26, 2018 at Staatsoperette Dresden
Our motto "Listen."
This year’s motto is “Listen.”. Proper listening becomes more and more important in a world where attention is often gained by loudness, and credibility by simplification. Listening is more than just hearing someone’s words. It requires letting go of your own point of view for a moment, and getting involved with your counterpart. Listening demands empathizing with each other in order to understand a person and his or her words.
The ability to feel sincere empathy is also strongly linked to a basic understanding and an acceptance of oneself, the own motivation, needs and anxieties. Only if we learn to listen honestly to ourselves, we can approach others openly and tolerantly.
Active and empathetic listening must be understood and practiced. With "Listen." we want to find out interactively, together with the participants, how this can be achieved.
Our Talks on Video
All of our talks are uploaded on the TEDx YouTube Channel and collected in a playlist. Among them are e.g. Christoph Burkhardt, an innovation psychologist talking about AI, as well as the famous cello soloist Jan Vogler from Dresden.
Follow our TEDxDresden YouTube Channel to always get the talks and performances of our conference.

Conference and Photo-Corner
Our photographers Amac Garbe, Lukas Lindner and David Guo did a great job taking photos during the conference. All impressions and pictures of individual speakers have been uploaded to flickr.
Photos taken in the Photo Corner are stored on our website and can be downloaded in high-resolution as a souvenir.

Twenty local projects presented their work
Showtime for inspiring projects from Dresden on the crane foyer in the foyer of the Staatsoperette Dresden. Our participants could listen to the poster pitches, discuss with the project representatives and connect with them. For the first time, we have rewarded one of the projects with the TEDxDresden Award. The winner was Martkschwärmer Dresden.
Recently inaugurated in 2016, the State Operetta Dresden has found its new venue in the heart of Dresden.
Together with the Youth Theatre "Theater Junge Generation" they moved into the renovated "Kraftwerk Mitte" which offers 700 seats in the large auditorium.
With 70 years of experience, the Staatsoperette Dresden is an expert for all musical theater.
We, as TEDxDresden, are excited and working closely together with our venue partner to provide you an unforgettable conference!

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hans Müller-Steinhagen
– President, Technische Universität Dresden
"It is important to think interdisciplinarily and interculturally, especially in today's political development. The world is continually opening up and we are dealing more and more with questions about how to overcome barriers, expand our own horizons and open ourselves up to new developments.
TEDxDresden offers - as well as the Technische Universität Dresden - an excellent platform for thinking outside the box."
We are excited to have him as our patron since 2016!
